Since our formation in late 2005, EDP has undertaken in excess of 1,000 projects across the UK - ranging in scale from individual properties for private clients to some of the largest urban expansions in the country.
Residential and Mixed Use Development
Together, EDP’s field survey skills and environmental planning expertise provide a strong evidence base, from which to inform robust negotiation on behalf of our clients seeking planning permission for a wide variety of development proposals. Taken in combination with our ‘environmentally led’ masterplanning service, we can optimise a site’s potential to deliver development and to achieve planning permission.
Our range of services is particularly well suited to the promotion of strategic land interests, where we work as part of a multi-disciplinary project team. We can deliver all the soft environmental project inputs from one integrated office and with one lead point of contact. This means our service is both simpler and more cost effective for our clients.
EDP has excellent links in the education market, where we have worked on a number of schools and colleges for both the private and public sectors, including award winning landscape design for St Bartholomew’s School in Newbury as well as planning success for an extension to LVS School, Oxford which presented a unique set of landscape and heritage challenges for the team to overcome.
Commercial and Leisure
We have developed a reputation for delivering high quality business schemes, including distribution, warehousing and employment proposals, where the landscape and visual assessment of large buildings can be especially important to unlocking a site’s potential.
EDP doesn’t just work in the rural environment. Urban development calls upon our experience with townscape assessment, street trees, cultural heritage, listed buildings and urban ecology. Our team has experience of contributing to a wide range of urban regeneration projects, including some of the most ambitious in the country such as the Bath Western Riverside project and the Creative Industries Quarter in London.
Rural Planning and Private Clients
Some of the most interesting and challenging projects EDP is involved with are associated with our clients’ aspirations to build or convert new homes in the countryside and diversify existing farmsteads. We possess an enviable track record of achieving planning permissions for our clients for a wide variety of applications in these circumstances.
The EDP team have a strong portfolio of renewable energy proposals and also work with clients in the energy transmission and distribution sectors. Given the pre-eminence of environmental issues in the design, determination and implementation of energy developments – whether it is grid infrastructure, biomass installations, wind or solar energy schemes – EDP’s experience and gravitas on the key issues is welcomed by Planning Authorities and Developers and has proven successful on a wide variety of projects, including at Public Inquiry.
Our infrastructure projects include road, rail, energy distribution and green infrastructure and include applications subject to National Infrastructure Planning. Our approach focuses on working closely with clients to identify key issues at an early stage and to engage proactively with Local Planning Authorities and Statutory Consultees. EDP’s inputs are greatly valued by our existing clients, who understand the value of considering the planning, commercial and contextual risks to potential development sites in seeking to gain a complete picture of both the opportunities and constraints inherent to these projects.
