Consultant Arboriculturist  
Shrewsbury

We have a new opportunity for an experienced, self-motivated and innovative Arboriculturist to join our well-established and experienced team. The position will be based at our Shrewsbury Office, with an expectation to provide technical skills and support to the Arboricultural and wider EDP team through involvement in multi-disciplinary projects across the country.

We are looking for a confident, enthusiastic, solution-focussed, and competent arboriculturist with a relevant first degree or equivalent qualification. Proven consultancy experience of at least 3 years is expected, including British Standard 5837:2012 surveys, preparation of associated reports, arboricultural impact assessments, method statements and the provision of arboricultural advice both internally and to clients on development related projects.

Ideally you will have some experience of preparing fee proposals and have good reporting skills, whilst being able to effectively prioritise workloads and work well under pressure. You should also be seeking to strengthen your project management, technical skills and client care.

In addition to the right qualifications and experience you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, show initiative and flexibility, have attention to detail and diligence, and the ability to work effectively on your own and as part of a team. You will also have a full, clean driving licence and access to your own car for business use. Consultant Ecologist

Ideally you will have some experience of preparing fee proposals and have good reporting skills, whilst being able to effectively prioritise workloads and work well under pressure. You should also be seeking to strengthen your ecological project management, technical skills and client care.

GIS Consultant
Location: Cirencester/Cardiff/Shrewsbury

EDP is looking for an experienced GIS Consultant to join our multi-disciplinary team based in either our Cardiff, Shrewsbury or Cirencester offices working alongside our Ecologists, Landscape Architects, Archaeologist, Arboriculturalists and Masterplanners.

The successful candidate will provide technical support services that underpins much of the work that we do, and will influence the growth and development of GIS services within the company.

We are looking for a positive, solution-focussed, and proactive individual who will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be personable, solution-focussed, innovative and proactive, have attention to detail and diligence, and the ability to work effectively on your own and as part of a team.

The successful candidate will be able to perform the following:

Development and management of spatial databases for individual projects;
GIS software customisation
GIS map and report production;
Data input and data quality assurance;
Data queries and analysis;
GIS training for EDP team members;
Promoting GIS use throughout the business;
Marketing and developing GIS services; and
Offering support in relation to Graphics/CAD/Photomontages/Visualisations, dependant on experience.

Salary will be agreed based on qualifications and experience, but it will form part of an excellent benefits package. Full or part-time working will be considered.

Graphics Consultant
Location: Cirencester/Cardiff/Shrewsbury

Working out of one of our picturesque offices you will be part of a talented, creative and cohesive in-house Graphics team working closely with our environmental consultants to produce maps, plans and desk-top published reports for our many clients.

The chosen candidate will be a highly enthusiastic and motivated graphics specialist, accomplished in the use of Adobe Creative Suite and GIS and preferably with some experience of CAD or vectorworks.

Archaeological/Heritage Consultant
Location: Cirencester or Cardiff

EDP is seeking to recruit another enthusiastic and energetic archaeological/heritage consultant to join one of the multi-disciplinary teams at either of our offices in Cardiff and Cirencester.

You will need to be highly professional and self-motivated, with excellent research skills. In addition you will be able to write to a high standard and deliver projects independently (small ones initially) or as part of a multi-discipline team; completing both on time and on budget. You will need to be able to communicate effectively with other team members and with external bodies as appropriate.

Twelve months or more in a consultancy environment would be desirable, but it is by no means essential, neither is it essential that you have any experience of working with our other disciplines, as this provides some exciting training opportunities. If you have specialist skills in the fields of historic landscape assessment and/or standing building investigation your application would be particularly welcomed. Existing membership of the CIfA at Associate level or above would be an advantage, but a full driving licence and a car insured for business use are essential.

Salary will depend on experience, but will exceed CIfA minima. EDP offers a very generous benefits package.

Seasonal Consultant Ecologists - Fixed Term
Location: Officewide

We are seeking aspirational, motivated and enthusiastic Fixed Term, Seasonal Consultant Ecologists to assist in all areas of our ecology work between now and September/October. Available posts will be based primarily at our Shrewsbury Office, but with opportunities also potentially available in Cirencester and Cardiff. Project work will require travelling to various sites across the country.

Your primary role will be to assist the wider EDP Ecology Team in undertaking habitat and protected species surveys, providing Clerk of Works support, and assisting with data input, analysis, research and report writing. During this time you will be supervised and supported by a strong team of ecology experts, enabling you to gain valuable training and experience of survey methodologies, mitigation and best practice techniques required by the professional consultancy industry.

You will have a relevant first degree and preferably a post-graduate qualification, with a proficiency in MS Office. In addition, you will be a confident field ecologist with experience beyond that gained in an academic context. The position would ideally suit persons with prior experience in a consultancy environment or similar.  Great crested newt and/or bat survey experience/licence holders would be highly desirable.

Graduate Urban Designer/Masterplanner
Location: Cirencester

The EDP Masterplanning team is recruiting! Following a number of exciting new instructions and continued growth we are now seeking a Graduate Urban Designer/Masterplanner to join our dynamic and growing team in Cirencester.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Landscape Architect to join our office in Shrewsbury due to a significant increase to the team’s core workload. Other office locations would also be considered, but Shrewsbury is the preferred location. This is an excellent opportunity for you to continue to develop your professional and project management skills by working closely with our existing team. In a growing office this post will also offer the successful candidate a huge diversity of experience encompassing not only landscape, but also aspects of ecology, heritage, masterplanning and arboriculture.

Our ideal candidate will be able to independently work on LVIA inputs, having already worked within a consultancy environment, while further capability in respect of Landscape Strategies, Management Plans, EIA and Project Management would be of great value.
