Aylesbury Woodlands Application

The outline planning application for an employment-led masterplan, on a 200 Ha site on the eastern edge of Aylesbury was submitted to Aylesbury Vale District Council last month. The Aylesbury Woodlands development is being promoted by Buckinghamshire Advantage, the infrastructure delivery arm of Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership.

 

The outline application included up to 100,000sqm of commercial floorspace and 1100 new homes together with a range of community uses. It is proposed that an element of the housing will come forward as custom build which will offer something different to the existing and proposed housing developments in and around Aylesbury.

 

In recognition of the sporting heritage within Aylesbury a new Sports Village is proposed which includes an outdoor velodrome, extensive sports pitches and associated hotel and athletes accommodation.

 

As part of the Green Infrastructure strategy, a green and blue grid was developed across the site which will link into the wider Aylesbury open space network.

 

EDP worked with PBA and Swift Ecology on the submission and were primarily responsible for masterplanning, Green Infrastructure, landscape, heritage and arboriculture. A Green Infrastructure Strategy document was prepared by EDP and submitted as part of the application.
