EDP Cardiff is building a Master Plan!

At EDP we can hardly believe it’s been 5 years since we launched our Masterplanning and Urban Design service. It’s been a thrilling journey from the start and now that we are quickly establishing ourselves as one of the leading environmental masterplanning companies in the UK, the time is right to launch our services across the water within our (also rapidly growing) Welsh office. This means exciting times at EDP Cardiff; the newly-formed masterplanning and urban design team is led by our new Associate Director, Gareth Howell who brings with him more than two decades of experience in both the industry, and the region. During this time Gareth has built a strong reputation as an Architect and Urban Designer, for ensuring added value through design quality, and ability to visualise the placemaking qualities of his Masterplans.

Gareth is supported by Carmen Peinado, also a new recruit, joining us as an Urban Designer. Carmen is a talented Architectural Technologist with a background in predominantly housing-related development, and also a keen interest in conservation and restoration of the built environment.

These key appointments are supported by the wider EDP Cardiff team ensuring we deliver our usual cross-discipline offering and integrated environmental approach. As is always the case at EDP, our teams don’t work in isolation and, as such further masterplanning support comes from within the existing Cardiff Team:

  • Phil Dascombe - an experienced Spatial Planner and Urban Designer
  • Emma Baker – a Chartered Landscape Architect
  • Joe Hall – a recently graduated Landscape Architect

This allows us to offer a complementary blend of skill sets within our team, which includes: Masterplanners, Urban Designers, Architects, and Landscape Architects. EDP’s masterplanning offer is unique, and unmatched by many of our competitors;

  1. Our masterplanning team can work together with our landscape, ecology, heritage and arboriculture teams meaning we can efficiently, quickly and cost-effectively provide responsive Green Infrastructure-led masterplanning for our clients.
  2. Our commercial acumen, gained from years of experience of strategic and large-scale development of sensitive sites, also means that these schemes deliver a balanced design solution, and contextual response  which provides the necessary return on investment, while also providing the most robust route through the trials of the planning system.

If you’d like to learn more and discuss our approach, please contact Gareth Howell or Dai Lewis at EDP Cardiff who will be more than happy to answer your questions or consider your site.
